Music @ St. Perpetua

2016-17 Concert Series

Music plays an important role in the life of the parish at St. Perpetua and there are many ways you can get involved!

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir sings primarily at the 9:30 a.m. mass on Sundays from September through early June. We meet each Wednesday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to rehearse hymns, liturgy, and special music. We take time to learn the music well and work on creating a dynamic musical experience for those in the pews as well as those in the choir.  Any time is a good time to join the choir: we welcome all new members who like to sing, regardless of the level of training or ability to read music. Choir rehearsals are fun and will leave you feeling refreshed and uplifted!

Cantor

Do people tell you that you have a good voice? Perhaps cantoring is the right ministry for you! Cantors help the congregation participate in the musical portion of the liturgy by announcing and leading the hymns and psalms at each mass. Cantors are scheduled on a rotation so you won't have to sing every weekend.

Vocalists

There are always opportunities for singers to perform at mass, even if you don't have the time to join the choir or become a cantor. If you love to sing, why not share your gift with the community? This is especially great for college kids who might be home for the summer, professional singers who want to keep up their sound between gigs, or amateur singers who want to share a favorite piece.

Instrumentalists

My philosophy about instruments is if there are two people playing, the music sounds 10 times better, if there are three people playing instruments, the music sounds 100 times better. As an experienced arranger and conductor, I can assure you that if you want to play your instrument - flute, oboe, violin, guitar, accordion, bass, cello, etc. - at mass, I will have some music for you to play.
